Shot Tracer

Film a shot the tracer can follow

Thirty seconds of setup decides how much of the flight can be followed.

Record a shot
  • Keep the phone still — a tripod or a steady rest. A moving camera makes the ball much harder to follow.
  • Film from behind the golfer, on the line from the ball to the target, looking at the target.
  • Stand far enough back to fit the whole golfer, and close enough to see the ball clearly.
  • Leave plenty of sky: golfer and ball in the lower part of the frame.
  • Film in good daylight, and not straight into the sun.
  • Record at 60 fps or more. Recording in Shot Tracer asks for 60 fps; your camera app’s 60 fps or slow-motion mode works even better.

When you record in Shot Tracer, the microphone listens for the sound of the strike to help time the trace. That happens on your device.

Only film people who agreed to it.
